MARTY MILAGROS is a nice kid, but has a reputation for being forgetful and clumsy. He has broken six call phones, so that his parents won’t get him another one. He also keeps forgetting to turn in his homework, even when he does it on time. He’s trying to do better, but it’s hard. Marty loves the science fiction show Galaxy Atlas, is a fan of the local minor league baseball team, and can’t get enough of the games Ultimate Trap and Pathfinder X on his iGame.
ALEX HUBBLE is one of Marty’s best friends. In third grade, Alex and Marty were paired on a field trip to a farm, and have been friends ever since. Alex is tall and gangly with a bottomless stomach. He’s very imaginative, a movie buff, and avid shoe collector. Alex lives at home with his older brother Judah and his dad. His mom is currently stationed overseas in Germany and oldest sister Cassandra lives on her own.
MIA TORRES is Marty’s other best friend. She keeps pretty busy with Girl Scouts and leadership programs, but is never too busy for her friends. Mia is Afro-latina and lives with her mom and dad. Although she’s the same age as Marty and Alex, she sees herself as the most sensible of the group and keeps an eye out for them.
MR. ALBERT has been a long time resident of Twin Pines apartments. He has been living in apartment 4B, two floors above the Milagros family, for as long as anyone can remember. Marty thinks Mr. Albert is a bit grouchy, and is hard to understand because of a noticeable accent, but Mami thinks he’s kind and a good neighbor.
